Westchester families need tax relief to protect our quality-of-life, attract high-paying new jobs and provide our children with an opportunity to remain in our community.
At $9,044 per year, a national study concluded that Westchester homeowners pay the nation’s highest property taxes.
Per capita, Westchester County families send more money to Albany than any other county in the state outside New York City.
Since the recession began, the number of unemployed Westchester County residents has nearly doubled.
1. Cut Property Taxes – As a strong advocate for the property tax cap, I believe it was an important first step. Now, Albany must eliminate billions of dollars in unfunded mandated costs it passes on to local governments and schools to directly reduce property taxes.
2. Reduce Spending — For decades, Albany has spent more than taxpayers could afford. We need a state spending cap to prevent the politicians and special interests from increasing spending in the future and we need to cut wasteful spending from the state budget.
3. Create Jobs — Westchester pays the nation’s highest state and local taxes. We need to cut taxes that hurt middle-class families and small businesses, eliminate the unfair MTA Payroll Tax on jobs and make Westchester a more competitive place to start and run a business.
4. Term Limits — Career politicians are part of the problem, not the solution. We need fresh, independent voices in government and term limits will ensure that we have a government of citizen-legislators envisioned by our Founding Fathers.
